b. Mural – The mural looks awesome. We need to decide on a date for any
sort of “unveiling” of the mural, and this will most likely be into September. John
Ellenberger may be here for the unveiling, but will need us to pay for his return trip if that is
the case. Monica shared that although the family feels the mural looks very good, it is not
really John O’Toole’s art anymore. They will discuss whether the timing of the unveiling can
work for them to attend once that date is determined, and also whether they as a family
wish to attend as the mural now represents another artist. The O’Toole family also
wondered if there was any possibility of retrieving the one panel (the bear) which was not as
faded as the rest of the mural. Blair and others indicated that unfortunately this is not
possible due to the way the new panels are affixed and aligned. The O’toole family want to
be sure that the Club understands that they appreciate the update as the mural was also no
longer representing their husband/father’s work. There was also discussion about the need
for a drip cap on the mural, and for reinforcing/bracing the mural to be sure it can withstand
all forms of weather. Kent mentioned that September may be a good time to arrange an
event around the mural to recognize the funders (DMC) as well as any others who will be
involved.
c. Social Event
i. Reminder: Bocce and BBQ, Saturday, July 13th, Clearwater Lake Hall,
Bocce Ball at 3, Meal at 6 PM. Gary will ensure the food is ordered and picked up. Don
Dunnigan will be Sargent at Arms that evening.
d. Patronage booklet – Further discussion will be held later in the
summer/fall.
e. Musical Ride. Val B. has tickets for the Ride ($20 for 13-adult, $10 6-12,
and 5 and under free). The Ag Society does need some help at the gates and they do need
to find a speaker system in case the one typically used are not available. Gates are open at
4 PM, beef on a bun will be available, 6 PM entertainment will be available. At 6:45
dignitaries will be arriving and the Ride will be after introductions – RCMP retirees will be in
the VIP section and Scott McMurchy (RCMP Commissioner for MB). Stalls have been built
and bedding chips are in place. Val has tickets available.
Val also mentioned that the chucks and chariots races (August 16-18) - this can be referred
to as a “Rodeo” weekend again because of all of the events – chuckwagons, chariots, bull
riding, wild pony race, children’s events, etc. $40/day or $80 for the weekend (includes the
$20 for chucks and chariots Friday night and the pancake breakfast on Sunday). The
weekend pass also enters buyers into a draw for a “backstage” pass to meet some of the
riders – and they can “meet” some of the animals as well.
12. Club Banners: Updates will be provided as available.
13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) :

once the final date is confirmed, and other details for the Fish Fry will be discussed at future
meetings.
