          a. None.

    6. Committee Reports:

       a. Catch The Big One: Catch the Big One (CTBO) will begin again on the Labour Day Weekend (September 2023).

          Further meetings will be held with the Roadrunner Swim Club (Lisa Gibb) to see if they may be willing to assist with ticket sales for CTBO. There

          will also need to be further discussion related to on-line sales for CTBO tickets. Peter will book The Grub Box for tickets sales once the sales begin again

          in September. This can be changed as needed once the next CTBO draw begins.

       a. Summer/Fall BBQ and District Governor Visit. We are still awaiting final confirmation of a date when the District Governor will be in The

      Pas. Don McKay will keep the Club posted on any updates as they become available – it will most likely be late August/early September.

      Rick and Fran Hubbs have kindly offered their home for the District

      Governor to stay when she visits The Pas and area.

   b. Opasquia Trails. It had been previously noted that the motion related to the contribution to the Opasquia Trails had passed, but that the

       would be presented when a representative could attend a Rotary meeting to provide an update on the project. To date, a representative has not been confirmed.

8. Canada Day : Canada Day will be left on the agenda for a more thorough discussion and planning for next year (and future years). Further

   discussion will take place about The Rotary Club of The Pas being involved in Canada Day events.

9. Memorial plaques for community benches. We are honored to have family members of previous Rotary members who have passed away

   present at this meeting. After lunch and the meeting, Jim indicated the dedication of the memorial Rotary benches will take place. The past

   members who are being remembered today include:

 

   Sandy Banks (Patti Banks is at the meeting today) was a member of the Rotary Club for 22 years beginning in 1999. Jim recalls Sandy always in the

   same place at the meetings and listened intently. He would always then have an incredible story related to the meeting’s events that he would tell  to

   wrap the meeting up…and he had the best jokes!

 

   Gene Germaine (Bev McTavish is at the meeting today) was a member for 8 years beginning in 2012. If you ever wanted to know anything about this

   province from Swan River to Flin Flon, you could ask Gene. There was nothing he did not know about, he was a brilliant man, and he always had

   great stories to tell.

 

   Don Manych (Lee Manych, Kim Manych-Coulter and Tenille Coulter were at the meeting) joined in 1966 and was a member for 55 years – this is

   incredible. Don always gave good, solid advice – and he was very good at shutting down a meeting if things were going a little long. He contributed

   so much to the Club in his many years of service.

 

   Mike Dickens was a member for 16 years starting in 2004, and served a term as President as well. Mike also always sat in his same place at

   meetings, and had great stories to share with all of the Members.

 

   Keith McMurchy was a member for 34 years, beginning in 1980. Keith was an educator by profession, and Jim shared that Keith actually helped him

   to appreciate education. Keith was always helping with various Rotary events, and LobsterFest was a memorable one. The stories Keith would

   share were also incredible, and the Club always had lots of laughs at these various events.

 

      Any ideas for fundraising can be brought forth at future meetings. Ideas mentioned to date include:

          o “Rubber duckies”

          o “Vehicle on Ice” – lottery guess as to what date the vehicle will disappear

          o Perogy making/sales

11.Rotary Club of The Pas Banners. Tim is not at the meeting today, but will develop and provide preliminary mock-ups to the Club for review. We will

   leave this on the agenda until the project is complete.

12.Clearwater Lake Marathon. Michael reported that the Marathon was a success, and the weather cooperated beautifully. There were 132

   participants registered, the majority which were confirmed a few days before the Marathon. Thankfully no participants got lost on the trails this

   year. Pledges were about $1,700 – the Running Room site is not particularly user-friendly, and next year a different site will be used.

   Hopefully this will make it more stream-lined for registrants to register and to gather pledges for future marathons. Thank you to those Rotary

   members who assisted with the tent set-up and take down for the Marathon

13.Rotary Meeting Chair – Kent Whaley will chair the first two meetings in August.

14.Rotary Exchange Student. Julia noted that our exchange student (Aria) has not yet had confirmation of her arrival date. She is awaiting her visa, so

       cannot determine dates until that is received. Linda is in touch with Aria, and will confirm as soon as she knows the expected arrival date.

15.Unfinished Business:

          a. Proposal for Membership: Debbie Lane had previously been noted

              as a potential member for the Club. Rick Hubbs had previously read

              Jace Lloyd’s name for the second time, and Jace will most likely join

              in the fall.

                                     

          b. Club 100th Anniversary. Permanent Agenda Item – no specific

              discussion at this meeting.

16. Farewell to Jim Scott. Rick Hubbs shared with the gathering that this is Jim’s last meeting with The Rotary Club of The Pas as he is moving to

       Estevan, SK in August. Jim is already going to be attending a Rotary meeting in Estevan next month, and is looking forward to remaining

       involved. Rick thanked Jim for his years of service with The Rotary Club of The Pas, including his two terms as President, and his willingness to always

       help out with the various events and Executive requirements and activities. The Club applauded Jim, thanked him for his service, and wished him well

       in the future.
