5. Minutes: Approval of July 8, 2025 minutes – Motion to approve (Kent Whaley/Don

Murphy) – passed.

6. Presentations: None.

7. Correspondence: None.

8. Committee Reports:

     a. Catch The Big One

        i. Round 9 – First draw will be September 9, 2025.

       ii. CTBO Rules: After a final discussion of the various options for potential changes to

the game, it was agreed that we would continue with the $5,000 starting pot (there are a few

members who feel that the starting pot should be $1,000), and Don D. will seek approval to

carryover 30% to the next game. Don D. mentioned that the Kinsmen have a big sign up in

town for the provincial Kinsmen 50/50, so we’ll have to see if/how that impacts our CTBO

when we start up again. We need more members out selling tickets, or selling on-line through

their own social media accounts.

     b. Budget. The budget presented by Doug Long at the last meeting was approved via

email to all Club members.

     c. Clearwater Lake Marathon: Kent reported that the pancakes were the highlight of the

Marathon. Thank you to Gary, Doug and Michael and Alison O. and all volunteers for the set-

up work, Michael for the lawn-mowing and bringing his machine to pound in the tent pegs. The

event was very successful, with the only concern being that the chairs and tents were taken

down too early, and those who were waiting to hear the results had nowhere to sit down and

wait when there was a delay with the computer system (timing system). There were 141

participants and Doug shared that the donations were at about $1,700. There was a $510 prize

for the 50/50, thanks to Ken and Diane Kelly. Kent will be at the radio station for the Rotary

radio spot tomorrow, and Michael will join as well to give a report on the Marathon.

Michael shared that the Clearwater Lake Marathon Volunteer Appreciate BBQ will be on

August 31 with hotdogs, hamburgers and all are welcome to come out and enjoy.

9. Board of Directors Report: None.

    c. UCN Rotaract club – Monica will follow-up with UCN in relation to setting up a

  Rotaract Club.

    d. Getting to know one another – Members are asked to submit information about

themselves for our Rotary Club as a “getting to know you” exercise. Four people have

submitted something to date. Don McKay has generated a list of questions for those who have

not submitted something, and at a later date (when we are back to the Wescana), if Members

have not submitted their own “biography” with the information they wish to share, they will be

asked to respond to a selected question(s) to share information with the Club.

    d. Social Meeting – We will restart this discussion in the Fall

    e. Name Tags – Awaiting the outstanding name tags from Stitchworx. Monica will check

on the status of the name tags.

    f. Fish Fry:

            i. Confirmation of details and next steps/timelines for the September 20, 2025

      Fish Fry. Peter confirmed that the hall is booked, the music is booked, and the remaining

      details are underway. Rick will take care of the fish, but does want to be sure there are

      leveled tables available so that the “cooks” are not working on the ground. Any

      bartenders must have the Serving it Safe certificate – Kristi has it, and others who are

      interested in taking it to be available to serve at Club functions like the fish fry, the Club

      will cover the cost. The training is on-line, cost is $25 and it takes about 3-4 hours to

      complete.

            ii. Calm Air Flight Pass (from last year’s Fish Fry). Valid until September 30.

      Rick mentioned that it is not always used because people have to pay the taxes and fees,

      and most prefer to drive so they have their vehicle there as well. Monica will check with

      Calm Air for the same donation for the September 2025 fish fry.

    g. Financial Contribution Requests (and use of charity number):

       i. Ag Society: Rotary Board will await submission of the request.

      ii. Opasquia School and Kelsey School

      iii. MBCI Stage Lighting (Monica noted that Gerry had indicated that funding had

been provided from another source for this)

       iv. Ski Chalet (use of charity number)

11. New Business :

       i. Please consider signing up for one of the Rotary Radio Report days in August.

        ii. Evening Meetings – This discussion will occur in late summer/early fall.

14. Installation of New Members: It has been some time since we focussed on recruitment of

new members. This will be discussed further in terms of generating ideas (eg. “prospect

letter”).
