CTBO Draw – The ticket sales for the new round of CTBO will be available February 20, and the first draw will be on March 5.

4. Birthdays and Anniversaries : Happy Birthday to Julia McKay - February
5. Approval of Minutes : January 23rd, 2024 minutes are approved and will be posted on the Rotary website. Don McKay noted that all minutes from last year are now posted, and moving forward, the minutes will be posted each week.
6. Correspondence: Don McKay circulated a thank you note from Bonnie Meadows (spade and neuter clinic).
7. Committee Reports: None.
8. Board of Directors Report: None.
9. New Business: Rotary bursary criteria. Don McKay noted that there are four $1000 bursaries awarded to four MBCI graduating student entering a post secondary education program. The criteria are based on satisfactory academic achievement, involvement in community and extracurricular activities, and financial need. Applicants will submit a short essay (several paragraphs) explaining their interpretation of Rotary’s motto “Service above Self”. The bursary may be held for one full school year until the recipient has enrolled in the chosen educational institution. Bursary payment will be split over each semester of the first year of enrollment. We will be adding “including trades” to the program eligibility for these bursaries. Don will confirm Rotary’s commitment with Marilee Hamilton (MBCI). There is also one $1000 bursary offered to one OLC graduating student entering a post secondary education program.
10. Why Rotary? Don noted again that Rotary minutes will be posted at the website from now forward. The next “project” is making our website more inviting and personal. Don asks that each person consider making a short(1 to 2 minute) video about what Rotary means to them (What caused you to join? What do you get out of it? What is your most memorable experience? Why should someone consider Rotary?). Members are not limited to specifically what Don is suggesting – please do whatever works for you. For example, you can write a story rather than a video, but do please include a picture of yourself at a Rotary event or wearing a Rotary shirt, etc. Don will share his own at the next meeting, and these will be included under the “Our Club” tab. Each person will have their own post. I mentioned this at the radio station and they suggested putting the audio on air. There will be a cost to this, whereas putting this on the website is at no cost. The idea would also be to post a group photo and update it seasonally. Club Banners: Awaiting an update from Tim.
11. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award):
12. Presentations: a. Val Berscheid made a presentation about all of the activities that the Ag Society has been involved with over the past year, as well as upcoming events and fundraising efforts.
13. Unfinished Business: a. Trappers’ Festival - Hot Chocolate volunteers are Kent Whaley, Don Murphy (aka Don 1), Doug Long, Peter Totte, John Pierson, Don McKay (aka Don 3). All volunteers will meet across the bridge (Gordon Lathlin arena) before the end of the parade for serving. Volunteers need to be at the Gordon Lathlin by 6 PM. Linda is looking after getting the hot chocolate to the site.
