1) We have applications for assistance for the Salamanowicz family who’s premature baby has left them off work and in Winnipeg for an extended period of time. Request for $1000.00 to help cover costs.
Lisa Gibb has requested financial assistance to help defray costs of sending students to the Rotary Career Symposium in Winnipeg in March.
Requests held over to Executive Meeting.
2) Rick Hubbs – Bill Bannock – there have been 20 tickets sold on line thus far. Entry forms are being mailed out today for people away from The Pas/ Wanless area. 300 plus people. Posters will also be sent out to northern first Nations communities.
Rick reported that Sandy Banks had been approached about the Rotary Club reviving the Spring Dance, which was discontinued several years ago. Sharain Jones to look into the feasibility of this.
3) There will be an executive meeting next Tuesday at 11:00 AM.
4) Don Dunnigan mentioned that there will be several dignitaries attending the Trapper’s Festival this year, both from the Manitoba and Saskatchewan governments. Wondering whether there was anything that Rotary can add to gifts presented by Trapper’s Committee. Bill Bannock tickets may be provided.
5) Crystal Morrish reported that in the aftermath of the fire at Acres Manor, homes were still required for 2 single mothers with one child, and for one pregnant mother with 2 other children.
6) Presentation by Lynda Geswin and Rachel Therrien of Opasquia School in support of a request for funding updated hearing aids for a child born without proper ears. This child is a candidate for cochlear implants in the future, but has several years and surgeries to go before this happens. $1800.00 has been promised by The Pas Elks, but $2000.00 more required. After the presentation, request deferred to Executive for recommendation.

7) Gary Morrish brought up the probability of Bill bannock continuing after the foreseeable future. The club core is aging and can’t be expected to run things as is for many more years. We need to address the recruitment of younger, energetic members to take up the torch. Suggested that we explore more social events that we can bring prospective members to and try and recruit. Also need more social events which involve partners and spouses, perhaps tying in with events in mid march.
8) Jim Lamontagne and Terry McKellep of The Pas Homecoming Committee spoke about thisyears event occurring on the long weekend in August. They have tentatively booked the arena for that weekend, and are working on events etc. Are requesting support of the Rotary Club to perhaps host a fish fry on the Sunday, and the dance on Saturday night. Deferred for further discussion.
