a. Opasquia Times Rotary International Anniversary  - Don McKay arranged for a congratulatory to RI in the local paper.

b. Tour India Invite – The RI Conference is in India this May.  The invitation and related information has been sent out to all Members from Don/Monica.  You will have received this through the RI email list as well.

a. CTBO – The tickets for the start of the next round of CTBO were distributed at the meeting, and Members volunteered to sell at the Grub Box and No Frills locations (Peter and Don Murphy Friday at the Grub Box, Doug Thursday at the Grub Box, Kent will do Sunday and Monday at the Grub Box, Gerry will do Thursday and Friday next week at the Grub Box, John will be at No Frills on Fridays and Don McKay will be at No Frills Saturday and Monday).  All previous sites where tickets were sold will still be on the list, and if they decide not to sell in the future, we will make adjustment at that time.  The first draw will be on March 5. 

            9.  Board of Directors Report:  None.

a. Account update.  Doug provided a brief update and will provide a further update as necessary at the next Board meeting.  If Members are interested in receiving a copy, please let Doug know.

b. Blizzard donation.  The Club discussed whether a Rotary logo will be placed on the Blizzard bus.  Half a window is about $2,500 and the expectation is that this will be on an annual basis.  The Club discussed whether we should have a half window or maybe there is the opportunity for our removable decals to be used, and fit in as available and at a reduced cost (ie. lower than $2,500 annually).  Peter reminded that this year the cost will be pro-rated as we are into the season already.  Rob White is looking after this for the Blizzard – he was going to provide a letter but we have not yet seen the information.  Peter will discuss this further with Rob White and report back.  Jim B. talked about potential support of the Blizzard/arena for advertising within the rink as well – perhaps this is another option to support the team.

c. Rotary radio spots on CJAR – We used up some spots during Trappers with the spots we had already paid.  We will now need to provide updated ads.  Wednesday radio spots are $105 and we will also have CTBO ads back on the radio now (about $85).  Don McKay also noted that Jim’s voice is still on the Rotary ads, so we will need to have that updated with current members.  Don will bring this back to the Club with ideas for ads in the future.

d. Don McKay is not available to be at the meeting next week as he will be playing music for Mike Munro’s funeral. The meeting will be downstairs at the Wescana.  Kent agreed to Chair.  Monica will also be away for the next two meetings.  Linda will take minutes on February 27.  Another member will be needed to take minutes on March 5 (for the Board meeting and for the Club meeting).     

            11. Club Banners:  We will await a further report from Tim on the banners.

            12. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award):  No report.

           13. Presentations:

a. Trappers’ Festival – The Rotary Members who volunteered served about 200 hot chocolates.  Don McKay told a story about one little child who offered a candy to the servers and simply said “Share”.  An awesome message – future Rotary member!

b. Why Rotary?  Don McKay reminded members to please consider doing either a video or personal story of your journey with Rotary for our website.

c. Rotary Fund raising challenge to combat polio – Time is running out.  Members were reminded that this must be done by Feb 28 and satisfy the $100 US threshold (and advise Bob Durston) to take advantage of the matching opportunity for polio fundraising.

d. World Rotary Day - February 23^rd.  We celebrated with a “cupcake cake” and a photo to share on our website.  It is RI’s 119^th birthday – although Don fessed up that the cake and the ad referenced 100 but no worries, no-one else seemed to notice.

 e. Estevan 100^th birthday celebration – Monica confirmed she will attend, and Gerry is also considering attending.  The Club agreed it would be a good idea to have representation and gather ideas for our upcoming 100^th as well.  Kent noted it will be helpful if we start to set aside some funds to begin to save for any activities we may plan for our own Club in 2029.  This will be discussed further at the Board meeting on March 5 to make a determination if the Club will provide any financial support for attendees.

16. Club 100^th Anniversary (2029) PERMANENT AGENDA ITEM:  There are various “start” dates noted in the past history of The Rotary Club of The Pas.  We need to discuss the actual date on which we will celebrate our own Club’s 100^th in 2029 – and what activities we may plan for that day/week/month or year!
