Monica indicated she may be able to attend and Gerry indicated he will also consider attending. Don Murphy clarified that expenses are paid by our Club if members are able to attend. Don 1 will send the information out again and a determination will be made at our February 20 meeting. Invitation to NMTF Dignitary Luncheon hosted by Calm Air at Wescana on Feb. 16 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Welcome and speeches will be at noon - Don McKay (Don 3) and Monica will attend on behalf of The Rotary Club of The Pas. 7. Committee Reports: None.
8. Board of Directors Report: There will be a Board meeting February 27.
9. New Business: Account 318 update. D9ug Long provided an update on this account, and a further update will be provided on remaining accounts after the next Board meeting. Doug reminded the Club that 6 members have not paid their current dues. We are over our budgeted amount on meals, but this is fine as do collect more than the actual cost, as agreed a number of years ago. The audited reports show an amount owing to us from Rotarel, so this can move back into the Club accounts. The Family of Rotary account is healthy and will be good to the end of the year. We have funds to cover off all amounts necessary. A further budget update on Rotarel (4 accounts) will be provided at a future meeting. Gerry noted a thank you to Doug for all of the work he does on the Rotary accounts – Members applauded Doug for his time and work on all of the Rotary accounts and accounting requirements.
Blocked Email Addresses. - Don McKay noticed that some of our Members’ email addresses were blocked on the Rotary site. He has made the necessary corrections - if you received the agenda from Don for today’s meeting, then your email is working. If you have stopped receiving Rotary emails and the agenda, please let Don or Monica know and we will work to correct this. < >Catch The Big One. We have leftover CTBO radio spots, and some will be used for messages from Rotary during Trappers. Once the CTBO begins again, radio notices will start up again for the draw. Member will be setting up the Catch the Big One Draw board on Thursday afternoon this week. Kent will confirm a location and Gerry, Blaire, Doug, Margaret, and Don McKay will join him to get the board completed. We will ensure the list of business sellers is available so that the tickets for the new draw will be distributed appropriately – all previous vendors will remain on the list.
10. Club Banners: Tim will provide an update when available.
11. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award): No report.
12. Presentations:
This will be viewed at a future meeting when we have the necessary video equipment available.
13. Unfinished Business: Trappers’ Festival - Hot Chocolate volunteers are Kent Whaley, Don Murphy (aka Don 1), Doug Long, Peter Totte, John Pierson, Don McKay (aka Don 3). We’ll meet after the parade on Feb 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Gordon Lathlin Arena parking lot. Unfortunately, the free skate has been arranged at the Roy H. Johnston arena rather than at OCN. Hopefully next year this can be better coordinated for people to gather for hot chocolate and then the free skate.
Why Rotary? Don McKay has posted his video on the Rotary site, and is continuing to encourage each Member to either do a video or a photo and message about their Rotary experience (why you joined, memorable experiences, what you get out of being a Member, etc.). Don noted that if you make a video, you will need to post the video on Facebook due to size restrictions on Club Runner.
Rotary Fund raising challenge to combat polio – There is a matching opportunity. A member puts in $100 US which becomes $200 US due to the match option. As this is US$ you would need to contribute $134 CDN to meet the requirement. Please consider this if you have not done so. If you cannot do the $134 CDN threshold, any amount is appreciated. This matching opportunity expires on February 28 so please act soon. A question was raised as to whether members could provide cheques to our Club and have their donations forwarded. It was clarified that it is best if individual members make their donations directly, and then their donations will be matched (up to the anonymous donor maximum), and they will receive their tax receipt and points. Monica will forward the information from Pat Chernesky about the process for making these donations.
World Rotary Day- Feb 23rd. We will get a cake for Rotary’s birthday (and will celebrate at our meeting on the 20th) – with a photo of our Club on the cake, and will share photos on our Facebook page, the Rotary site and with Sonja Susut.
