Feb. 7, 2017 Meeting Minutes

Mike Dickens commenced the meeting in the usual fashion.

Guest: Doug Long, Al Gardiner and Nati

Birthdays: no birthdays
Anniversaries:  no anniversaries

President Elect: Peter Totte and Kent Whaley.  They will each be the club President for six months.

Correspondence: Letter about the Shelter Box Program.  Kent motioned that the club should continue to donate for two shelter boxes and Rick Hubbs seconded the motion.  Everyone was in favour and the vote was carried.

Sharain mentioned the Housing First for Veterans Experiencing Homelessness.  More information will follow closer to the meeting date which is scheduled for March 6th in The Pas.

Other Business:   Winterfest banquet will be on Saturday, March 25.  The sign-up sheet went around the club.  There will be around 20 exchange students, Alex J. Hamm is the comedian and we are encouraged to bring guests.  Nati will do a 50/50.

Discussion ensued about a May Spring Fling dance and it was decided we will not do this.  Jerome Conaty has a skate board competition in the summer so maybe he can be approached about a dance for a younger audience after this year’s competition.

So far the ice is good for Bill Bannock!  32 inches

Gary regaled the club with a funny story.

Peter Totte asked to borrow a truck for the hot chocolate after the Trappers’ Festival Parade for Wednesday, February 15th.  Mike Dickens agreed to loan Peter his truck.  He still needs a few volunteers so Rick Johnson said he would help and he will bring the hot chocolate tubs to the Wescana  Inn that morning.  Sharain will also volunteer.  Gary will bring the hot chocolate and the cups to the Wescana on Wednesday.  Nati will help with this and at the Preliminaries on the Thursday evening.  They have enough volunteers for the Preliminaries.

Ken Kelly was the Sergeant-at-Arms and the 50/50 was pulled by Frank Lang but he didn’t win.  Ken collected happy bucks though he did fine Mike D. for forgetting the day.

Mike ended the meeting in the regular fashion.
