Rotary Club of The Pas
April 30/2024
Chair: Don McKay
Recording Secretary: Linda Northcott
Sergeant at Arms: Peter Totte
The meeting began with the land acknowledgement.
We have no birthdays, no anniversaries, no makeups, no visiting Rotarians, four guests – Namirembi Afatsawo, Emily Doucette, Brian Duncalfe, and Dawn Madden.
Namirembi gave us a presentation on the skills competition in Winnipeg. She got gold for public speaking, and will advance to the national competition in Montreal next month.
She spoke on the difficulties for youth to secure funding for these competitions. For youth to be more involved, they need to be made aware that support is available. With that being said, Namirembi is requesting assistance for her trip to Quebec.
The Rotary Club of The Pas presented Namirembi with a cheque in the amount of $1000.00 to assist with her expenses.
Emily Doucette, representing the Roadrunners Swim Club, was presented with a cheque in the amount of $1500.00 to assist with upcoming swim meet.
CTBO – 768 tickets were sold this week. Last week’s winner, Dawn Madden, drew Tena Hart’s ticket. She chose number 8, which revealed the Ace of Hearts. Tena wins the consolation prize of $768.00. Next week’s jackpot starts at $14,388.50.
Brian Duncalfe went through the procedure for delivering meals on wheels, including the most efficient order for delivery.
CTBO – we have enough tickets to last through September. It was noted that repeat winners (Dawn and Kent Madden) are eligible for membership in the club.
We will be serving the grad breakfast on June 27. Location to be determined.
There are several training sessions available on Club Runner. Interested members are invited to sign up.
Next week’s meeting will be focused on a reception for Connie Chartrand. We will have a cake and will present her with a gift card.
Destination Marketing Committee – Kent is the club rep on the committee and would like to pass his position on to someone else in the club. Crystal Krost volunteered to take that on. Thank you to Crystal!

The Legion has taken on the Canada Day festivities, and is looking for help.
Gary suggested that we have a social meeting sometime in the near future – no business, just a social gathering.
50/50 Ken’s ticket was drawn, but sadly no luck. He will fill the position of Sgt. at next week’s meeting.
The meeting concluded with the four -way test.
