Keith McKay was attended this meeting to claim his $750 consolation prize for last week's draw. Keith also had the pleasure of drawing a ticket belonging to Nancy Kelly, this week's winner. Nancy's ticket resulted in envelope number 42 being opened revealing the 8 of spades. Although Nancy did not find the ace and win this week's jackpot she does get to claim this week's consolation prize of $664 and will be asked to draw next week's ticket from the drum. The jackpot for next week's draw starts at $12 300 but will go up due to sales this week.

6. Presentations: Stephen Fine – Presentations for Rotarians by a Rotarian - The presentation was well received. Melanoma was the topic of the presentation by Stephen Fine who was joining us from Boston. Information received included the
1. difference between melanomas (an issue) and moles which are not such a concern
2. all ages are at risk to some degree
3. warning signs to watch for
4. risk factors such as race and location on body were mentioned
5. how to check yourself
6. preventative measures you should take when outside. This included a discussion about the application of sunblock. Most people apply only ¼ to ½ of what they should be
using.
Stephen answered questions after the presentation. In a follow-up email he thanks the club for allowing him to present this topic. He suggested that we go to the Melanoma

8. Committee Reports:
a. CTBO – Club members were reminded that this is our primary source of funding and therefore all that we do depends on it. Tickets sales were down somewhat this past week.
Our “take” increases as the sales increase. The game works when we work. Do what you can do.
b. Denis asked to be added to the agenda to train those interested in using the POS system. You will need to share your name, email address, cell phone number and if you have
an android or an iPhone. Once you are set up all you need is your phone to take tap payments. This app you install on your phone does not allow card reader payment
capability this.
9. Board of Directors Report: This information was presented at the evening meeting on April 22. Members were also asked to read the minutes for this meeting as not all of this
was mentioned here.
a. Financial - Doug went through financial information. All is well. There was discussion about putting some Family of Rotary funds to another expense as the account balance is
quite high. The $5.00 “fee” will be applied to the evening meetings as well. There was discussion about if a donation had been made and if not who it should be made to. It
would be looked into.
b. Trade Show - A question was asked about floats. Answer is under Unfinished Business.
c. Swimming Donation Request - Out Financial Assistance Form will be adjusted to require the listing of income and expenses for a previous event to accompany any
submitted request. This will be vetted through the board prior to being tabled at a member meeting. Swimming requests received for the next year will draw on the next budget.
d. i. The Rotary Club of Montreal offered to do a presentation on their Ghana water project we contributed money to last year. The board declined the offer.
ii. The Rotary Club of Montreal asked if we are interested in contributing to the next stage of their Ghana Water Project. The board decided not contribute this time around.
e. Don 3 shared his recent education about Half-Masting versus Half-Staffing. Our Flag Protocol will be adjusted so it reflects that we Half-Staff when we lower the flag. The
board advised that the flag should be lowered in recognition of the passing of the Pope.
10. Unfinished Business:
a. Trade Show - Friday, May 8 to May 10 A sign up schedule was sent out last week. There are a number of empty times that need to be filled. The Chamber will supply floats
required, aprons for seller. We can sell CTBO tickets at the 50/50 table. People can switch positions if need be. I would like to share the schedule with Sandra
shortly after this meeting. A number of holes remain in the schedule. I am getting rather worried that we will not be fully staffed for this event. Remember that the
requested number of staff was 5 to 6. Six did not seem to be likely so I planned for five. If you have not signed up for some time I am asking you to please consider
committing to donating some of your time by contacting Don McKay .
c. Meals on Wheels – The month is fully staffed and has been shared with Brian.
d. Name tags – Peter, Val (2), Abe Tags have been ordered.
e. UCN Roteract club – Don 3 to contact UCN admin about starting a club.
11. New Business :
a. Social Meeting – The possibility of a social meeting was discussed on April 22 receiving favourable response from those in attendance. One option was one supper
meeting every two months. Some questions raised asked who pays for the meal and are guests invited. Details of this were not discussed at this meeting but the idea was
favourably received.

Prior to the meeting closing it was mentioned that Evans Premachuk will be interred on May 16 at 1:30 pm at Lakeside Cemetery. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Wescana Rendezvous Room at 3:00 pm. All Rotarian attendees are asked to wear their blue hockey shirts. Contact me if you do not have one of these. Make sure you tell me the size you will need.
