a. 12:10 - ShelterBox Presentation by Ally Buck.  Technical difficulties did not allow the presentation to take place today.  We will try again for the April 16 meeting.

b. 12:30 - Heather Gibson received a cheque from Rotary to help support the 36 piece band (U of Manitoba wind ensemble) coming to The Pas on April 30, and shared information about the tour which will make stops at a number of Northern locations. We are very fortunate to have the ensemble travel to the North, and specifically to The Pas – this is not a regular occurrence, although Heather hopes that this may be able to happen again in a couple of years.  The U of M band members will spend time with the band students at MBCI (and students from Flin Flon and Swan River as well).  The U of M students will also have an opportunity to explore The Pas and area a little, and they will have a tour of The Caves.  Heather invited members of our Club to attend the main “concert” at 2:30 PM on April 30 at the MBCI gym.

a. Jennifer Mathews from Road Runners Swim Club is seeking the additional funds ($1,500) for the swim meets for this year.  Blaire indicated that the Club has already cut back salaries and expenses, and they have also forewarned the parents that they may need to cover more of the costs for the meet.  Doug shared that we do have the funds in 311 and from the Evans Premachuk contribution to support this amount.  Our Club agreed that we will support the Road Runners Club for this amount for the second swim meet this year.

a. CTBO.  JoAnn Bigelow drew Kent Cook’s ticket – consolation prize is $570, but the Ace of Spades is still on the board, so here we go ahead for another week!  Don Dunnigan reported we had a slow week (570 tickets), mainly due to many being away for Spring Break.  We need to pick up sales – what if we had two shifts 11:30 – 2 and 2 – 5 at Grub Box and No Frills when we can have these locations for sales.  Don also mentioned that we may want to consider taking the tickets from the stores where they are not being sold, and selling these ourselves.  Monica will check with Otineka Mall to see about selling tickets there as well.  Gerry mentioned that Giant Tiger may be available as well, if we have enough people to sell there. Don McKay will finish preparing the updated list of winners over the past rounds of Catch The Big One, and this can be posted when we sell tickets.

            9.  Board of Directors Report:    None.            

a. Don Dunnigan shared with the Club about an article he read in relation to the ongoing financial impacts of Covid and how this is impacting businesses in the US (and of course Canada too).  He mentioned an Applebee’s Coupon Book which provides individuals/families with a coupon once a week for 52 weeks – good for the buyer and good to get business going back.  Don got thinking about our own communities, and thought this may be a good fundraiser for Rotary and good for local businesses to help people get back out to stores/restaurants/fast food, etc.  A suggestion was made for a $100 book, with coupons for various places at $25/week for 52 weeks.  People tend to go to same place(s) all the time, and this would encourage people to go to different places in town to shop/eat.   We could start selling in the Fall/Winter for  Coupons to start January 2025.  Each member is asked to make a list of businesses they think may be willing to offer coupons, and at our next meeting we can determine a group to manage this project, and who will approach each business with the idea so that there is not duplication, and to ensure there is a consistent message from Rotary about this project if we agree to go ahead.

a. Meals on Wheels –  A sign-up sheet for May was circulated, and members will volunteer to have this month covered for Meals on Wheels deliveries. It will be nice if there are two members for each day of delivery.  Linda will connect with Brian Duncalfe and get a list of who/where the deliveries are to be made.  A copy of your Vulnerable Persons Record Check must be given to Monica or Don 3 so it may be passed along to the hospital.

13. Exchange Student and RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award):  The Rotary Youth Exchange Application has been signed and sent.  Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

            14. Installation of New Members: None.

15. Club 100^th Anniversary (2029) PERMANENT AGENDA ITEM:  Monica will be attending the Estevan 100^th  celebration on April 19, and will seek out ideas we may want to consider for our Club’s 100^th.
