Angus Miller was at the door, Mark Twyford was Chairman and Ian Mayberry was Sergeant.  We had apologies from Adrian Crowe, Gerald East, Ray Higgs (back in hospital again, but coming out today), Paul Seymour, Ashleigh Symes and Col Laurenson.

President Charles Thomasson welcomed all members, our Guest Speaker Jo Winwood and our guests from Rotaract Burleigh Heads, Blake Foster, Harrison Howick, Chumani Brooks and Matthew Hayward.  The Burleigh Rotaractors have been very active recently at our Project Shed, helping with the construction of the X-Ray Unit for Vanuatu, sorting out medical equipment etc. Welcome!

First off, Charles had the very pleasant task of presenting Mario Fairlie with his updated Paul Harris Fellowship pin – his 7th, with a Ruby (see separate article above).  He then elaborated on the Golf Day on Monday: great success, with some 99 players and funds raised exceeding $6,000.  A special thank you go to all the sponsors, which include our members Mark Twyford (Braden MTD Accounting) Simon Brook (Burling Brown), Andy Bell (Advent Security), Doug Lipp who was the principal organiser, and Neil Thurlow, who provided the new ‘Tear Drop’ banners to display on the course.

After Jo Winwood’s presentation on Loneliness (see separate article above), President Charles briefly mentioned a container destined for Honiara to be loaded with hospital beds.

Larry Murray outlined the upcoming ’10,000th Wheelchair’ celebration, combined with a Big Bike Sale on Saturday 14th November. We expect to have around 50 bikes ready for sale and a good potential that our “manufacturing partner”, Palen Creek Correctional Centre, will be there as well. Johnny Bueti has agreed to take care of the media and promotion, but we need lots of people on the ground on the day, so put it into your diary now!

PDG Darrell Brown announced that the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award, 19-29 years old) and RYTS (Rotary Youth Transition Seminar, Grade 11 and 12 students) have been confirmed to be run in January 2021.  Click on the links for more details. Further, Darrell confirmed our participation in the upcoming Small Business Expo in Mt Gravatt, as well as in Alexander Hills.

Mark Twyford is organising a 1,000 Km Bike Ride (4 riders @ 250 Km each). See separate article above.
