Larry Murray was Chairman (for Paul Smith) and Adrian Crowe was at the door (for Al Sirovs). We had apologies from Ashleigh Symes, Al Sirovs, Gerald East, Brian Pearson, Gerald East and Franz Huber.

President Paul Seymour welcomed all members and visitors, incoming District Governor 2022-23 Karen Thomas and Kristen ‘KJ’ Jewson (who celebrated her birthday on that very day! Congratulations, KJ! 😊) Paul commented on the successful Bunnings Barbeque the previous Friday. We were offered another one for this Saturday, but no acceptance due to the short notice. [Meanwhile, a date has been offered for Friday 8th July 2022. Ed]

DGE Karen Thomas briefly addressed the meeting: albeit a member of the Rotary Club of Burleigh Heads, she now lives in Kingscliffe. She referred to recent flooding in her area - note the ongoing Rotary Flood Appeal (see details in story above). Karen is a Registered Intensive Care nurse; she had her own diabetics company (now retired). "I've always been medically minded," she said. Karen also highlighted that this coming year, Rotary International will have its first female President, Jennifer Jones (Canada). She invited all members to contact her if they would like to discuss any specific item relating to Rotary and particularly the District 9640.

After Ross Augustine's presentation (see story above), Wheelchair Trust Chairman Larry Murray announced that he has recovered from his COVID. He reported that our “Shed Foreman” Bryan Tuesley will next week go into hospital for a back operation. Generally, the shed is looking good, but we need to get wheels. Costs have massively increased, mostly because shipping fees have gone through the roof. Plus we have some 6 months delivery time.  Note: Breakfast at the shed on 8th June.

Associate members Des La Rance and John Hall were interviewed on Radio 4CRB (89.3). A recording can be downloaded from the Download Section on the right.

President Elect Mitch Brown alerted all board members that a Board Meeting will be held next Wednesday 18th May at the Surfers Paradise SLSC - 07:00 am. There is also the Leadership seminar for incoming board members (in the good olden days this was simply called a District Assembly), at Alstonville 28/05/22. All incoming board members should attend. Mark your diaries for the Changeover Luncheon on Saturday 02/07/22, details to be advised.

Social drinks at Benowa Tavern, every second Thursday (same week we have a social meeting) will become a permanent event. The next one this coming Thursday 19th May.

Doug Lipp advised that our annual Golf Day is projected for the first week in November.
