Zimbabwe

Disaster/Crisis:

Flooding

Status:

Over 800 tents have been distributed by our Implementing Partner the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on behalf of ShelterBox.

Incessant rains have caused flooding which has forced thousands from their homes. The IOM has requested ShelterBox Tents to help hundreds of families that were living in a camp with no roof over their heads. One such family is the Mahora family. Mrs. Mahora is struggling to take care of her five children, aged five to nineteen. From living in two solid huts, with an income from gardening and growing vegetables, in the space of a day, Mrs. Mahora found her family sleeping in the dirt with no way to provide for them after water filled their home. Rains are expected to continue until the end of April.
