Craig Hobart from the Southport Flying club spoke to us about Angel Flight, which provides vital transport for people in regional and remote areas to access specialist medical care, relying heavily on volunteer pilots, donated aircraft, and community funding.
The club’s broader work extends to partnerships with aviation and rescue services, including lifesaving helicopters and community flying organisations. These collaborations enable initiatives such as youth adventure camps, Veterans Day events, and future infrastructure projects to improve emergency and medical access. Overall, the club plays a key role in strengthening community connections, supporting essential services, and improving quality of life for people facing medical and geographic challenges.

Supporting Members in Times of Need
The club sends their best wishes to Luci and her family following her father’s serious car accident. Lucy was supported in returning to Argentina, with special recognition given to those who assisted at short notice - Kath Koch and Yvette Morgan. Yvette flew with Luci to Sydney at the last minute.
Community Engagement & Anzac Activities
Members were thanked for their involvement in the Walk for Remembrance, with funds donated to RSL services. Upcoming Anzac Day representation was confirmed, alongside continued support for Interact projects and local community initiatives, including equipment repurposing in Brisbane.
Pride of Work Awards & Local Partnerships
Preparations are underway for the Pride of Work Awards on May 18th, with strong nomination numbers and sponsorship efforts. Engagement with Councilor Josh Martin continues, including plans for a peace pole and wellbeing space in Rotary Park.
Club Events & Leadership Updates
Key dates include the District Conference and Changeover Dinner in June. Membership leadership transitions are underway, ensuring continuity and growth.
Youth & International Impact
Upcoming Interact events, leadership camps, and youth exchange opportunities were highlighted. The club also celebrated global impact through projects restoring sight in Sri Lanka, demonstrating the far-reaching difference of its work.

If you do not have your Club Runner login information, you can go to the Club Runner website, scroll down a little and click on “Send me a Magic Link”. Enter the email address you gave to the club, and you will receive an email. Click on the login button and then select the club website. Go to ‘My Clubrunner’ and then ‘My Profile’. The ‘Edit’ button is at the top right and you can add/change any information on your profile. Click ‘Save’ and you’re done!
