on Cycling without Age
Commencing in Denmark in 2012 through a single act of kindness, Cycling Without Age is now represented in 50 countries with over 2,200 chapter locations.  It has served 2,000,000 people with the oldest passengers being 107 and the oldest pilot being 90.  Gold Coast Chapter is only one year old and has already purchased two trishaws (imported from Denmark) and is awaiting the arrival of two bikes capable of carrying people on wheelchairs.
All rides are free and our closest totally community inclusive chapter is located on the Sunshine Coast.
With our broad spectrum approach, we can cater for the youngest child with disability through to our elderly citizens.
Stuart Robert MP said about Cycling Without Age Gold Coast recently "I regularly meet with community groups and support services and can say that none provide the type of activity Cycling Without Age offer to residents."
With immense mental health and wellbeing benefits being experienced by our passengers, our volunteers receive the added benefits of exercise and a sense of contribution through volunteerism.
One of our goals is to emulate a successful program trialled in Singapore whereby 'at-risk' youths have been trained to be pilots instilling a sense of self-worth and contribution.  We are also considering how our initiative can assist sufferers of PTSD and related conditions.
I encourage you to watch this inspirational TED Talk by the founder Ole Kassow which explains how Cycling Without Age commenced.  It gives an insight into what fuels the passion of our rapidly growing group of volunteers and supporters.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6Ti4qUa-OU&t=29s
