ANNOUNCEMENT

New International Project for Sylvan Lake Rotary Club brings awareness to the needs of people in remote areas of Latin America.

Your Sylvan Lake Rotarians work hard on the community level and support worthy projects on the international level as well.  This year Club Members have pledged support for a new project called StoveTeam International.  Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 through a Rotary International Grant as well as a local fundraising project to be announced.

StoveTeam International facilitates the conversion from open indoor cooking fires to low smoke, fuel efficient, safe cookstoves in collaboration with local communities to support families and protect the environment in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico.

Did you Know?

Each year, smoke inhalation from indoor cooking fires kills more people than malaria and AIDS combined.

C02 emissions from cooking fires are a major contributor to climate change.

More than 78,000 stoves have already improved the lives of more than half a million people preventing nearly one million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
