Megan Chernoff-Hanson: Town Councilor

As a town councilor she attends regular council meetings and takes part in discussions and helps make decisions regarding the town. She also sits on numerous committees as a council representative. A councilor may also fill in for the mayor at municipal functions such as grand openings. A town councilor must be available to the public to answer questions and listen to concerns about all issues related to the town such as bylaws, taxes, land use and recreation. Helen finds it rewarding and satisfying to provide factual, accurate information for people and help them deal with issues related to the Town of Sylvan Lake. A genuine concern for others and a desire to be a voice for people who otherwise may not be heard prompted Helen to run for council. She would be happy to talk to a work experience student or allow a student to work with her for a couple of days in order to gain some insight into the workings of the town.
