In one side of his facility customers have access to motor vehicle licensing, Alberta Registries, passport photos, marriage licenses, banking, ATB Financial, boat safety courses and driver exams. On the other side, wood restoration, paints, stains, wall covering, fabrics and wallpaper are available. The Country Window Shop owned by design consultant Ellen Walker, also has a showroom available at The Paint Stop. Matt is a colour consultant whose expertise is often utilized by people who want to make the best choice of colours for their homes. To deal with the public in such a diverse way, communication skills are essential. The willingness to help people achieve their goals is also a necessary component of success in the retail world. Matt was attracted to this career choice because he enjoyed people and was interested in the science of colour and coatings. He finds being creative challenging and fun. To pursue a career in decorating, knowledge of colour and marketing skills are essential. To provide government services such as are available at the Paint Stop one must meet government requirements and understand relevant computer programs. Matt would be more than willing to have a student work with him for a couple of days.
