The Green Town Rotary Club has joined forces with our local fire department to ensure that all local households, regardless of income, are protected from the dangers of carbon monoxide. Fire chief Guy Montag said the club's purchase of about 150 carbon monoxide detectors would almost certainly save lives in our community. The detectors are available for free pickup at the central fire hall on Gernsback Street while supplies last.
This year is particularly important to the Green Town Rotary Club, as 2015 is the year we mark the 75th anniversary of our club and charter. The club was founded through the determination and generous good nature Dr. Frank Gibbs, Green Town's first full-time medical practitioner. A former native of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire, old "Doc" Gibbs moved to our town in 1928, following the death of his wife, Julia. Dr. Gibbs saw the promise in our growing community, and soon created strong links amongst the business and cultural leaders in Green Town. He parleyed these connections into the foundation of the Green Town Rotary.
