"To be, or not to be..."

Leigh Lavigne of the inaugural Shakespeare in the Park Committee visited the Club Feb 15th to let everyone know that in partnership with the Firehall Theatre, they will be hosting a Shakespearean festival in Memorial Park. This event with coincide with JazzFest scheduled between June 21 and 25. Plays such as Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing are planned for the event.

Partners include City Parks Department, and both the Monarch and Firehall Theatres. She is hoping that this event will help to vitalize downtown and become a tradition from which the entire community would benefit.

Meeting Notes: 

  • Keith Walker announced that April is Daffodil month for the Cancer Society. He is asking for volunteers to help maintain and look after the boxes of pins located throughout the city. He will have Dan post a schedule if anyone is interested in volunteering.
  • Bonnie Rude-Weisman mentioned that she has 160 tickets for the Mexican Fiesta out to members and only has the money for 40. Please sell you tickets and get your money in to Bonnie.
  • Clare Lindsay said he has about 12 to 15 silent auction items for the Mexican Fiesta. Please bring your items in to Clare at the next meeting. Gerry Carter mentioned that there are a lot of excellent ideas at the Basketry Bug which you can purchase or add to a basket there.
  • There were lots of happy dollars collected by Syl.
  • The draw was $220 with Ted Rodych holding the lucky ticket. Sorry Ted, the Queen of Clubs did not make the grade.
