Sean posed a number of questions to the Club to generate discussion.

  • Do we want to look at more fundraising initiatives to support a legacy project?
  • How might we improve our current fundraising efforts - (mentioned that other clubs do year round fund raising such as bingo, $100 raffle tickets, motorcycle raffle, recycle drive etc.)
  • What might we consider to raise more funds?

Meeting Date: January 12, 2010

Discussion Points:

Bonnie - International Dinner - treat it more of a fundraiser than in the past

Corrie - if we are going to support a legacy project, we need to raise more money

Craig - suggestion year round raffle?  Marketing and selling and what is our target for fundraising

Glen - what is the max. (goal) that we are looking at with Viva Las Vegas

Bill - more corporate sponsors are needed to raise that amount to $15 - $20 thousand just for corporate, sell out all our tickets (400) so that would set our max at around $30 - 40 thousand

  • Current spending is about $35,000 per year, so depending on what projects we want to support, are we looking at a year round raffle?  In the past the Christmas Tree Fantasy has supported the helicopter project.  It was brought to our attention that the casino (about every 18 months) money is not split in Southern Alberta the same as it is in other communities

Karen - suggested we work smarter, not harder, timing is key and capitalize on disposable income and analyze how to do this - Suggested to set up an advisory committee to look at this.

Sean - Stampede Raffle - suggestions to start making money from this project

Glen - exposure is great - suggestion instead of motorcycles was a travel voucher for $15,000, or whatever other prize to reduce our cost.

Claire - choice of 4 other prizes rather than bikes

Craig - no break from Medicine Hat Motorsports in relation to cost of bikes

Julia - Exposure at the stampede is good

Les - Stampede Raffle - increase margin - exposure is great, but suggested different prizes.  Also, in regards to fundraising for the legacy project, was to support it, not necessarily lead it.

Terry - make up a story board to show what we do in the community (for Stampede Raffle)
