Ron Robinson, Director Emergency Management, City of Medicine Hat joined our Meeting today to discuss the recent Flooding Event.  He characterized what he does as Prevent ~ Mitigate ~ Review/Recover.
 

Ron indicated that Medicine Hat has become somewhat of a "template" for disaster management that is now being used elsewhere.  Ron very generally recapped the recent Event outlining the 3 main areas of priority:

  1. Safety of Residents
  2. Protection of Critical Infrastructure
  3. Community Protection 

While there are still many challenges ahead, by all accounts, the City has been widely applauded for both its preparedness and plan implementation - all well deserved accolades.

Meeting Notes:

 

  • Only Continental Breaky now available - will likely be a subject of some discussion in the future
  • PACE Rotary Club has requested financial support for their upcoming Dragon Boat Festival being held at Elkwater July 20 & 21 ~ Motion: To support the PACE Dragon Boat Festival for $1,000 contingent on Board concurrence, Bonnie. Seconded by Glen. Carried
  • Newly minted Sgt.-At-Ams Clare was busy on his first full day on the Job
  • BRW won the draw and picked the 2 of hearts
