The meeting started slightly late with slightly more people in attendance than was expected at the meeting during Easter week.

Guest speaker, Deanna Haysom, who is the Development Officer at Medicine Hat College, was welcomed and spoke to us on one of the Community Committee's suggested projects, the "Trail and Trees" initiative at the college.

Deanna spoke about the plans to have the participation trail completed in time for the Rattler Run in 2013 with funding coming from the college and community groups. If Sunrise Rotary wishes to have naming rights for the trail a five-year overall commitment of $100,000 is needed with some of these funds eligible for matching grants and some of it used to establish a fund to ensure that the path is maintained. Or these funds could be used to support scholarships. If the club wishes to support at the non-naming level then there are other ways that the club would be recognized for its contributions. The trail will welcome the public on campus as it connects to the Kin Coulee city trails as well as College Drive and Southridge. It will include fitness stations for multi-age groups as well as new trees and signage. College students will be involved in the set up and will use it as well as school groups. The Club could also have "hands-on" involvement, working with students to set up the equipment and participating in the official opening. Deanna answered questions and left copies of the plans with members in attendance

Meeting Notes:

Thanks to the efforts of the International Committee and the club members, over 240 tickets have been sold for the April 14 Mexican Fiesta; more silent auctions items than we had last year have been donated; and all volunteer slots have been filed. Many thanks to everyone!

Happy dollars: Glen (who is retiring from his job after 37 years on April 13 - congratulations!), Bonnie, April, Jace, Jerry, Coreen, and Danny.

Sue, the pleased Chair of the International Committee, had the right red ticket in hand but did not pick the right card from the deck.

Thanks to Coreen and Keith for cashing and greeting.
