Gillian Slade of The Daffodil Project was the presenter and she educated the Sunrise Rotary members on a project that is working towards planting 1,000,000 King Alfred Daffodils by 2025.
These locally purchased daffodils are drought and pest resistant (they are toxic to most creatures) and are going to be planted along the Trans Canada Highway from Redcliff to Dunmore. All money donated goes directly to the purchasing of the daffodil bulbs and anyone can sign up to help plant them. A Project sheet and additional info has been uploaded to our site under Homepage Files
This project is potentially the 1st of it’s kind, and was completely inspired by the 1965 film, Doctor Zhivago, specifically this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bl_YDWWypxY
Gillian read the poem, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud” by William Wordsworth for the closing remarks. For more information contact Gillian Slade:
