President Gordon Wallsmith welcomed Christina Johnson, Regional Coordinator with the Sexual Assault Response Committee to our meeting.  Christina spoke about the upcoming “Walk a Mile in her Shoes” Event.  This is an International Men’s Walk and she challenged our incoming president, Jace Anderson, to join the walk, wearing appropriately fitted, but nonetheless, stylish red high-heeled shoes.

His predecessors, Gordon Wallsmith and Sean Blewett, walked the mile and lived to tell it.  The walk is scheduled for June 4th at 2 p.m.   It is to raise awareness of sexual abuse/sexual assault and pay honour to victims and survivors.  Please support Jace through donations.  Karen Charlton and Coreen Dolan strongly suggest that Jace consider panty hose to accompany the red shoes.

Meeting Notes:

  • On-line Survey: Craig reported that there is an on-line survey regarding legacy priorities.  Please respond to share your opinions.  It only takes a few minutes.
  • Casino Dates:  Mark reported that our casino dates are Friday, October 14th and Saturday, October 15th (weekend after Thanksgiving).  Please mark your calendars as this activity provides us with needed money to support various projects.
  • Chair of Viva Las Vegas:  A huge thank you to Corrie Stolz for agreeing to take this task on.  Bill Cooper will pass (not throw) the baton.
  • Storage Shed:  Clare announced that the storage shed has now been built and is primed for filling.  If you have graciously stored Sunrise Rotary items over the years, please make arrangements with Clare to have the items released from your kind supervision.
  • Happy dollars: Bill led the way to acknowledge his pleasure at Corrie’s decision.  There were many more.  We also learned that one person’s happy experience (Craig’s at the election results) was another person’s sad experience (Karen’s).  Oh, such is life.
