As the Speaker/Program for the day was unfortunately unable to attend, Dan agreed to provide an update on the activities and the initiatives of the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation.

The role and mandate of the Health Foundation hasn't changed, however there is negative energy around healthcare and unfortunately the media capitalizes on this.

This is an interesting time for fundraising due to the overall challenges still being felt within the economy - the Enhanced Charitable Tax Credit does help

Every dollar raised is spent locally.

60% of donation come from groups, clubs, etc.

Rotary in general is a big supporter.

The Sunrise Courtyard is the latest large project for our club.

20% of donations are individual, 20% corporate

Gaming money is also a source of revenue

Raised/spent 850K last fiscal year.

The targets are things that are not funded (used to be enhanced, but now becoming somewhat basic supplies)

Due to the ongoing fiscal challenges within Alberta Health Services, the Health Foundation is becoming the most popular office in the hospital!!
