Committee Chair Corrie Stolz presents a recap of the work completed by the Committee to date at the July 20, 2010 Club Meeting.  The Legacy Project Committee also includes Renee, Gerry & Karen.

Corrie lead a powerpoint review and recap of the Projects that have been considered so far and outlined the main criteria the Club had set out for a Legacy Project.  After having considered the information available, the Committee suggested the Club consider the Renovation and Rejuvenation of the MH Public Library Theatre as it's Legacy Project.  A copy of the Proposal can be located under the Club Documents section of our site and was previously forwarded to all Members.  The Club's share of this Project would be $250,000.  Further, the Committee understands that the Club may qualify for a 10 year interest free loan from the City of Medicine Hat.  Other considerations discussed include:

  • Would require up to a 10 year commitment
  • $25,000 a year in monetary commitment (10 years or less)
  • woud commit approximately 70% of current annual Club revenues
  • Discussions of volunteer's commitments for our fund raisers to support the  Legacy Project and other Club activities
  • Discussion if funds from the Casino can be used for this Project
  • Discussion if this Project would impact the Mexico Schools Project funds

Corrie moved that "the Rotary Club of Medicine Hat Sunrise adopt the recommendation of the Legacy Project Committee to accept the Renovation and Rejuvenation of the MH Public Library Theatre as it's Legacy Project subject to the completion of satisfactory financial arrangements and repayment considerations discussed." Seconded by Mark.  CARRIED.
