Julia is the CEO of the Shortgrass Library System.  She is also busy with many boards, including Treasurer of the Library Assoc. of Alberta, Chairperson with Redi Enterprises, and a member of the Riverside Book club and Monday at the Movies Committee.

In her spare time (whenever that is) she enjoys golf, gardening, travel, friends and of course, reading.

Julia was born in Guelph, Ontario to Victor and Maxine. She has two siblings, a sister Margie and a brother, Michael.  They live in Dallas and Guelph respectively.
Julia graduated from the University of Guelph with a bachelor's degree in history and English, and received her masters from Western in Library Science.

She has worked in many different facilities, including the library at the University of Western, a school board position with both gifted and challenged students.  She held the head librarian position in Brooks, and eventually joined the Shortgrass system with influence from her mentor Dr. Harold Storlien.  The Shortgrass Library system is a partnership between municipalities, and is very active in its business of spearheading projects and facilitating knowledge transfer in many regional libraries.

  • Board Meeting:  Tonight at 4:45 at Entre Corp
  • Cashier Replacement:  Julia needs a replacement for cashier next week.  Please contact her if you are available.
  • Legacy Project: Corrie gave us an update on the status of the legacy project.  As a year in review, he covered the following:
    1. As a club we decided to pursue the feasibility of a detox centre as a legacy project, and as such we aligned with McMann to do a feasibility study
    2. Funds from the city were secured to complete the study and a draft report is now complete.
    3. Unfortunately the draft report is lacking some critical pieces of information including a comprehensive business plan.  As such the Legacy Committee has requested this information be obtained, and once this happens, they will make a recommendation to the club.
  • 50/50  Sharla won the draw but did not draw the ace.  Rats.
