Community/Vocational Committee UPDATE

Club Director and Committee Chair Josh Wintoniak gave us an enlightening insight into what The Community and Vocational divisions of our Club are mandated to do, and what that looks like in our community. 
 
By definition the Vocational Committee is tasked to work with integrity and contribute expertise to the problems and needs of society.  As Rotarians, we should encourage others to do the same, sharing our expertise and fostering relationships.  The Community division encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in our community and to serve the public interest.  
 
What have these committees supported?  Well, lots.  Check it out.
  1. Entre Corp Youth Entrepreneur Camp
  2. RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Conference
  3. SPCA – Cause for Paws (helped raise $18,000 for this group)
  4. RAK Day – Go Be Kind – Went and gave swag and coffee to ESL students at Saamis Immigration
  5. FAME – Female in Action, Moving and Empowering
  6. Leaders of Tomorrow
  7. CORE Association
  8. Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil project
  9. MHART – Medicine Hat and Area Refugee Team
  10. Sunrise Rotary Ride the Road to Reading program with the Public Library
  11. MHC scholarship
  12. School Dictionary project
  13. And the upcoming Rattler Run…
Wow.  Lots of lives are touched by these actions.  You people are great!
 
Note that on April 22, 2016 the Saamis Club is hosting a Sock Hop at the Southside Event Centre.  Price is $50/couple.  Theme is 60s…so yes, dress accordingly.  Go for a burger and fries (old school fries), and a candy bar.
