The group viewed a video presentation produced by a collaboration of the Canadian Ski Patrol and the Canadian Avalanche Centre - Canada's National Public Safety Organization.  The video focused on avalanches and their destructive force.  The average age of a person killed in an avalanche is in their mid twenties!

Clare performed a simulated "find the victim" exercise with a "beacon instrument".  He emphasized that the first 15 minutes of the search is vital and that all involved must work fast for success - after 30 minutes, 80% of victims will not survive.
Clare invited everyone to learn more about avalanches and tips to improve your survival chances by visiting www.avalanche.ca
