Guest David Friesen, Executive Director from the Southern Alberta Medic Air Society spoke about the HALO (Helicopter Air Lift Operation) program .  HALO started in 2007, and covers most urgent calls within a 160 km radius of Medicine Hat. 
 

HALO has now started working closer with STARS out of Calgary, including using STARS for their dispatch centre services.  The main benefit of having a quick responder like HALO is the speed that they can get medical personnel to the injured victim in order to be stabilized, and secondly how quickly they can then get them to a hospital.

 

It costs approximately $850,000 a year to operate HALO.  There is a fundraising gala on Sept 27th, tickets are $75 each.  Info on the gala and on HALO can be found:

  • The Dictionary Delivery project is officially started. 1,000 dictionaries will be ordered right away. Claire Lindsay will be updating on our next steps in packaging and delivering the dictionaries. 
  • Reminder that there will be an inter-club Rotary lunch on Monday, Sept 30th at the Medicine Hat Lodge at noon.  There will be NO breakfast Rotary that Tues in lieu of the Monday lunch.
