A Day with The Rotary Foundation
Please take 13 minutes to watch this powerful video that demonstrates the impact of Rotary contributions in improving the quality of life for people around the world. Featured in this video is our own Dr. Sandy Mackay (Medicine Hat Club). Please watch the video at this link: http://www.rotary.org/en/MediaAndNews/Multimedia/RVMVideoMagazine/Pages/MakeNoSmallsPlans.aspx
Clubs benefit from contributions to the Rotary Foundation by being able to apply for funds from RI for international projects. The idea is that every Rotarian donates to TRF every year. The suggested contribution is $100 USD, and contributions can be made monthly or in lump sums. You can speak directly with Glen about how to make these contributions. Our club is proud to note that we have 13 Paul Harris Fellows, which indicates contributions to TRF to a minimum of $1000. We have in fact, 2 multiple Paul Harris Fellows.
Glen asks us, "why wouldn't you contribute?" Please see the power point presentation Glen used for a great history of Rotary and the Foundation - it is located in the Downloads section of our site.
Meeting Notes
- President Gord reminds us that on Feb 5th, there will be a PR meeting (joint with the other clubs) from 10am - 3 pm. Let him know if you are interested in attending.
- Clare reminded us that he will be hounding (and housing) the presents for the silent auction for the International Dinner.
- Craig Elder would like to take the lead of the Legacy Committee 2.0. He would like to continue as chair, and would like your input in an honest fashion regarding your feedback for a project. He would like 2 club members to join him on this committee. Please contact Craig if you are interested.
- Larry Johnson had the right 50/50 ticket, but did not draw the ace. (pot was $16/$152)
