PRESS RELEASE:

Electronic Waste Round-Up  Saamis Rotary Club MAY 14th OLD WalMart prk'g lot

The Saamis Rotary Club and The City of Medicine Hat are working in partnership with Alberta Recycling to hold its 3rd Electronics Waste round-up.

All your unwanted, end-of-life electronics will be accepted.  Together with the City of Medicine Hat - Solid Waste Utility, AB Recycling, GEEP Alberta, we will be collecting your old, broken, end-of-life electronics.

The Saamis Rotary Club in partnership with the City of Medicine Hat will hold its 3rd E-Waste Round-Up  Saturday, May 14th 2011 from9am to 4pm at the OLD Wal-Mart location parking lot.  So mark your calendars!!  The last two years we set  new records in Alberta!!! - over 200 tonnes of e waste collected from these annual events.

With few regulations or incentives, e-waste recycling continues to be done on the honour system in Canada.  PC's and landfills go together like oil and water or, more accurately, like groundwater and mercury, which can leak out of computer circuitry.  Unfortunately, environmental impact is considerable.  Not only are these materials toxic to the environment but are usually 100% recyclable.  Your decision to recycle your electronics today will go along way in helping future generations enjoy this place we call home.. Earth.

Please support the Saamis Rotary Club in its endeavours to keep all electronics out of landfills and we will promise to keep supporting our community today and in the future.  Please note the City of Medicine Hat has a collection site located at the landfill year round.   If you have any questions call 403-548-5138
