This weeks meeting we had the pleasure of welcoming our guest Jenny Ryder from Anytime Fitness.
Herman spoke about 103.1 Loving Life radio station after hearing Ken Tucker the manager speak at the Chamber of Commerce meeting and his overview of the radio station. Ken gave a moving talk to everyone from what he saw travelling around to the fire areas. The community radio has been very proactive in giving day to day updates. They give a lot of time to the younger community installing facilities for them to use in operating and learning about a local radio station.
Unfortunately the transmitter they have is outdated and need to be replaced at a cost of $25,000-$30,000.
Herman requested if the club could consider making a
contribution toward 103.1.
Further background information was given by Johannes who is 103.1’s treasurer. The radio licence LGA area is for the whole of the Clarence Valley. The current
transmitter is at 90% capacity and ideally should be running at 50% to reach the whole area. The days are numbered for the lifespan of the current transmitter.
The radio station wants to be there for the community and Johannes suggested that we consider helping each other supporting a project similar to last year when we
raised money for the Defibrillator at the Grafton Base Hospital. He encouraged our members to join 103.1 Loving Life also – the annual fee is just $25.
Alba Linklater Thanked our club for all the support at the United Hospital Auxiliary Grafton Christmas morning tea held on the 20 th November. A very enjoyable morning for all who attended. Brian Lane and Herman Claassens were the main Tea Totallers with Judy Glasson being the chief sandwich maker.
Richard Nichols reminded us that Trivia night at Roches is on and took numbers. This week our team managed a 2nd place – there were a few hard rounds however
our Midday Rotary Team power came through….Well done and a fun night. If you want to come along please let us know for numbers at the lunch meetings. There are only 3 weeks left for this year.
Carols by Candlelight will be proceeding this Saturday – ALL VOLUNTEERS ON SATURDAY ARE REQUIRED TO BE AT THE DEBRIEFING AT 3PM SHARP.
Peter Robinson and his dedicated team have worked tirelessly on this major project for our community. The funds raised will be given back to the local community that have been affected by the fires. The raffle has some great prizes;
