Good News!.
Following further discussions with the kitchen we will be reverting back to a set menu every Wednesday with a modest $1.00 increase.

Once again Peter and his team have pulled off another successful book sale at the Criterion Theatre and we look forward to Peter’s report.

Lee gave a brief report on the proposed cycle event and we should hear more this week.

Theotime gave a very brief report on his activities to date and it would appear that he has been quite busy and obviously enjoying his stay. He is currently staying with Chris and Jane Dougherty at Junction Hill.

A surprise guest was Julie Jardine from the Can Do Cancer Trust. She had spoken at the Chamber meeting earlier and was a guest of Des. Julie spoke of their activities and fundraising efforts and how they are helping people in the Clarence area. It may be an area that we could help in the future.

A very pleasant social evening at the Naked Bean on Thursday evening, being an opportunity for our Junior Jacaranda entrant to sell some raffle tickets. The jazz brought back memories of my youth and it was great to
see Johannes’s son playing in the group.

Our editor has listed all our important events, please take note.

Look forward to seeing you at Roches next Wednesday.

Coffs Coast & Clarence CanDo Cancer Trust

The Coffs Coast & Clarence CanDo Cancer Trust supports patients and families attending the North Coast Cancer Institute.

In an effort to ensure funds remain in the local area and help those most in need, the CanDo Cancer Trust Committee, along with the generous support of the Coffs Coast Freemasons, established the Trust to distribute funds to patients and families affected by cancer.

If you would like to get involved and support our cause, you can volunteer to help out at events or make a donation!

Aims of the Trust

Currently, most funds raised for cancer sufferers do not stay locally in the Coffs Harbour region. There has also been a problem with what current assistance schemes will cover in terms of expenses; most household bills and even the accommodation while undergoing treatment are not covered by these schemes.

We provide direct financial assistance to North Coast Cancer Institute (NCCI) patients and their families. These are local people within our community!

Eligibility

  • North Coast Cancer Institute patients only
  • Patients/Families to be assessed by North Coast Cancer Institute staff, primarily Social Workers.
  • Patients to provide evidence of income.
  • Assessors may consider varying income criteria where special circumstances apply

See a more detailed explanation of our criteria.

Our Trust aims to assist at least 2-3 patients/families per week in the following ways:

  • To provide assistance to a maximum $600 per Patient/Family.
  • Payments will usually be in the form of direct payment to creditors.
Eg. household bills, phone, gas, electricity, insurance etc.
  • Provision of supermarket vouchers for food or petrol may be provided.
  • May also provide ‘quality of life’ items where deemed necessary.
