Safety Fair for Kids

Sunny skies and the scent of free hot dogs welcomed more than 160 participants to the 2nd Annual Safe Kids Fair. Indoor and outdoor progams occurred simultanelously during the 3 hour event.

 

A car seat safety check conducted by the Pennsylvania State Ploice provided free replacement car seats and booster seats to families needing them.  Personal floatation devices were fitted by members of the Ledgedale Dive Team. Caruth Bus Services gave Bus safety demonstrations on a school bus.  Hideout Public Safety provided fingerprinting, Hamlin Fire and Ambulance Services, Honesdale and Lake Ariel Fire Departments also participated bringing a "Smoke House" and giving fire safety demonstrations.

 

Inside the school gymnasium, children were fitted for and received new  bike helmets. Those who visited at least 9 programs were awarded a free entry into a raffle for bicycles donated by The Hamlin Township Supervisors and Bongo's Roadhouse Restaurant. Those programs were conducted by American Red Cross,  Wayne Memorial Hospital Community Health Center ,Upper Delaware  National Park Services,   Wayne County Drug and Alcohol Commission,  Wayne County  Early Intervention Coalition, Wayne County Emergency Management, , Aetna Better Health,  Wayne County Taskforce on Lyme and Ticks, Systems of Care,  Concern 4 Kids,  and the Western Wayne CATS/ Interact Club.

 

Funding was provided through a Rotary District Grant along with funds raised through the club's Annual Golf Tournament.
