Last weeks Program:

Ted Silver  expounded on the ways that our club could use the services of the RI foundation.  Pairing ourselves with an overseas club and then finding a project either in that area or even another, and then using the auspices of a matching grant, bring such a program to fruition.  From water and sewage to maternal health venues, the possibilities are limited only by our imagination.  The monies donated to the RI Foundation are kept in an interest bearing account for three years, and thus return to the various districts and clubs $1.06 for every dollar contributed.  These dollars are available in the form of matching grants with no dollar limit, only restriction being the benefit of the project and that it be sustainable.

Harry Talalas and the golf committee reports the date of the First Annual Hamlin Rotary Golf Tournamant will be JUNE 10th, and will be held at the Paupack Hills Golf Course.  A schedule of sponsors is in the works ranging from $50 to $500 (or more) and will be available to the members to start soliciting the various businesses in and around Hamlin.  This will involve EVERY member and each of our efforts will contribute to the success on this venture.  Start thinking about your contacts, and solicit their contributions, stressing that ALL the proceeds will go to our ongoing projects and toward scholarships for local children.

Update  Attendance and new members was discussed and the relative merits and demerits of a meeting night change,or variation thereof.  Staying the same, going to an alternate Tuesday/Wednesday format was given its benefits, such as being a good force to new members, and an easing for current members.  Some stated that it would be confusing to "visiting Rotarians".  That may be true, but then they don't make our club go!  We do!  A questionaire will be sent to all for your input.  Your writer feels strongly that an alternate Tuesday/Wednesday format will grow our club.
