As the world's premiere service organization, Rotary is poised and ready to assist our neighbors in Texas. An update from the Disaster Aid website states,
Zone 21b Houston Tx trailer is on standby as we wait the rain out. Some areas over 20" of rain in 24 hours. Zone 30 domestic response trailer in Lake Charles Louisiana is also standing by and in touch with local emergency management. Texas and Louisiana response teams will need money for supplies and equipment please donate at www.disasteraidusa.com. All money raised will be used only for Hurricane Harvey survivors and needs.

Disaster Aid USA's mission is to provide disaster aid and relief world-wide, relying on the Guiding Principles of Rotary and the Rotary 4-Way Test, with a Board of Directors from every Rotarian Zone in the USA. DAUSA is an American Rotary project run by Americans. Disaster Aid USA operates with full transparency, accountability, oversight and professionalism that are expected of genuine Rotary projects.
Disaster Aid USA is accepting applications from Rotarians and non-Rotarians who are interested in becoming International Disaster Aid Response Team Members. The training will be held in Frederick, Maryland from September 28th, to October 2nd, 2017.
A problem solving and or project management skills are a huge asset in the field as disaster and water projects will present many operational, cultural, and political problems. The ability to look for local resources, compare those to resources available to be shipped in, and due a proper analysis of both is key to success. Being able to work with other cultures, participate in government, UN or Rotary meetings and present our Capacity is key also.
