HAMLIN  —
The Rotary Club of Hamlin was reorganized last year, and this month the club donated bleachers and benches to Salem Township Park in Hamlin.
Last year when the club started, there was, "absolutely no money," said President Mary Ellen Bentler. So, one of the club's first projects was to do a matching grant with rotary district 7410 that is part of Rotary International Bentler explained. As part of the District Simplified Grant, the club was able to pay for half of the bleachers in the park. Working with woodworkers from The Hideout, the club supplied the materials while the craftsmen built the three wooden benches that are located along the trails in the park.
Bentler said the bleachers and benches are part of, "what Rotary does." She said members look for projects to improve the community, where members either live or work. The park where the bleachers and benches are, Bentler said has been in the progress for a few years.
