Rotary Club of Ahuriri Sunrise

As our name suggests, the Ahuriri Sunrise club was born out of the Ahuriri club in Napier back in 1999.

 

We were the first breakfast club in our area and initially found it challenging to retain members willing to rise before the Sun.

 

Today our club membership is in the high Forties, with an even spread of genders. Many members are business owners or retired business owners who take the time each Wednesday morning to congregate at East Pier for breakfast and a meeting before continuing on to work.

We support a number of local community events and conduct fundraising activities. Each year our club organises the ART DECO SOAP BOX DERBY, on the Sunday morning of Art Deco Weekend. We support our fellow club’s events and worked for many years with with the Pathways trust, erecting shelters and creating family areas along the pathway. With the growth of the pathway into a Nationwide network (Nga-Harenga) and the dissolution of the trust, we now work with Napier City Council to maintain the local pathways and surrounding plantings. Internationally we support Rotary International to eradicate Polio in our lifetime, support the Days for Girls movement and work with ERK and Shelter Box to provide disaster relief in the Pacific and further afield.

 

We welcome guests to join us at 6:45 each Wednesday morning at the East Pier Hotel’s Conference Centre - 50 Nelson Quay, Ahuriri.

Ocassionally we meet at alternate venues so be sure to contact us to confirm our location on the day.
