BLACKFOOT CROSSING HISTORICAL SITE
The site of the signing of Treaty No.7, Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park is a designated National Historic Site. Situated less than an hour’s drive south of Calgary, the park is dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Siksika Nation’s language, culture and traditions. Inside the Interpretive Centre which incorporates the plains tipi in its design is a stunning eco-friendly museum, where visitors can learn how Siksika First Nation culture developed through interactive exhibits. These exhibits will also help to familiarize the visitors with the terms and impact of “The Indian Act” and “Treaty 7”. Indoor guided tours with a local Siksika interpreter offer an even more in-depth look perspective on these developments.
