COVID-19: How E-Clubs Can Help

During the early period of the virus outbreak, President Brent Leerdam and members of the E-Club of the Caribbean, 7020 provided immediate support to the family of Rotary clubs across the district. The club offered to setup meeting times for 7020 clubs using the E-Club Zoom account for their use until each club could make online arrangements for themselves. The hope was to maintain the routine of the weekly fellowship meeting and provide an opportunity for clubs to create their action plans in support of their communities from within a safe environment.

Encouraged by District 7020 Governor, Delma Maduro, the E-Club produced a short video explaining the advantages of meeting online during the Coronavirus outbreak. The video was followed up by an invitation to all clubs in the district to attend a meeting and explain the key elements of conducting interesting, successful Rotary meetings. The club continues to support with any ongoing advice and guidance including hosting joint meetings and extending district-wide invitations to listen to visiting guest speakers.

The E-Club of the Caribbean has been using the Zoom platform for the past 7 years and has seen it grow to what it is today. With the generous 20% discount offered to Rotary by Zoom, this superb online meeting platform is proving to be a lifeline and business tool for many, including governmental bodies.

Many districts across the Rotary world have an E-Club they and can be an ideal resource for advice and support to other clubs as they struggle with ever-changing restrictions on travel. An online account can easily and simply be shared by a group of clubs and Assistant Governors can be a resource to help get their clubs up and running.

People of Action take the lead during times of change. Along with us at the E-Club of the Caribbean, your E-Club can be that change as Rotary Connects the World and help Rotary Open Opportunities.
