This is a recap from the August 10, 2026, meeting of the Board of the Rotary Club of Calgary Fish Creek.

These are not approved meeting minutes, but quick highlights to keep members in the loop.

 APPROVED 

  • Several International Service items were approved by the board prior to this meeting and before the end of the 2025-2026 fiscal yearend:
    • $620 to Light Up the World, from unrestricted funds

    • $2,500 to Light Up the World, from restricted AGLC funds

    • $5,000 to ShelterBox Canada, from restricted AGLC funds

    • $5,000 to The Rotary Foundation, Polio Plus, from restricted AGLC funds

    • $5,000 to Homes of Hope, from restricted AGLC funds
  • Changing the Bank Account Signatories to President Hyder Hassan, President Elect Joanne Birce, Treasurer Leslie Biles, and Secretary Nneka Isilebo.
  • Current balance across all accounts is approximately $138,000. The budget for this fiscal year will be issued soon.
  • Our next casino is January 19-20. The arrival of online gambling in Alberta could reduce casino gambling and the amount we receive.
  • Club Service – 
    • Plans are underway to celebrate the club’s 30th anniversary November 16.

    • AGM is November 23.

  • Community Service - The first volunteer opportunity of the year is Community Kitchen, September 14, 5-8 pm.
  • International Service – Committee will meet in September.
  • Youth Service Committee
    • Seeking members to assist with Stay In School and other Youth Programs.

    • Hope to charter an Interact Club in Calgary

    • In-Bound Youth Exchange student expected to arrive on August 15 and Outbound student expected to depart the same day.

    • District In-Bound Student & Counsellor Orientation Aug 20-23.

    • Undergraduate Scholarship grant is pending Confirmation of Enrolment before disbursement
