The Board in a FLASH

This is a recap from the board, meeting of the Rotary Club of Calgary Fish Creek.

These are not approved meeting minutes, but quick highlights to keep members in the loop.

Sept. 21, 2026       

APPROVED 

  • 2026-2027 Budget.
  • Forward the District Grant $7,500 and the required $2,500 “match” from the club to the Calgary Food Bank.
  • $3,000 to Purses of Hope for “Rotary logo socks” to be added to the donated purses.
  • $850 for the 30th Anniversary Celebration.
  • $1,500 to University of Calgary for a student scholarship.

 

HIGHLIGHTS

Treasurer:

  • Completed the Society annual review for Alberta Gaming (AGLC).

    • Current balance across all accounts is approximately $139,754.

    • Review of the club’s 2025-2026 financials was completed by Anne-Marie and Sandy on August 30.

Secretary renewed the club’s provincial business license.

Club Service completed survey of members for 30th Anniversary event program. Event plans progressing well.

Community Service:

  • Purse/hygiene Drive planned for Purses of Hope.

    • Latif has joined the Community Service committee.

Youth Service:

  • Adaeze has agreed to assist with Stay In School.

    • Kim has agreed to be our youth exchange Outbound Counselor.

    • We are seeking committee members to assist with Youth Programs.

    • Still hope to charter an Interact Club, perhaps at E.P. Scarlet High School.

    • Inbound Youth Exchange student has arrived and is with first host family.

    • Outbound student in Switzerland is doing well.

    • Working with Calgary East club on Youth Exchange sponsorship for 2027-2028.

    • We need help to promote Rotary Youth Exchange and attract applicants.

    • One of two beneficiaries of the undergraduate scholarship grant has provided Confirmation of Enrolment.

    • Rotary Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp (RAYEC) was completed in August.

    • New Youth Programs to be launched in December/January.

    • Youth Service Evening October 19th will feature Youth Exchange presentations and our RAYEC youth program participant.

Fundraising - Wine Raffle tickets will be ready by Oct 19, and sales will be completed by Dec 7. Draw Dec 10.

Membership – Two prospects considering application.
