Scott said the main purpose of his speech is to provide an overview and history of his company, DIRTT Environmental Solutions, and his Rotary connections from his father, Jim Jenkins, who is a Rotary club member.
Scott shared his thoughts on the US and Canadian economy, particularly in the construction business and the role of technology in disrupting a very old and antiquated industry. The company in on a continual journey trying to benefit from the opportunities and challenges as a company founded in Calgary while 85% of their sales are generated in the United States.
DIRTT is in Construction business and software company. DIRTT builds custom, prefabricated interiors that are used in healthcare, education, government, commercial, and residential buildings.
Scott explain they can build product faster, because of their proprietary software, ICE. ICE is based on video game technology and is constructed in the Java programming language.
ICE excels at immersive 3D experience, virtual reality and augmented reality that 2D construction drawings can’t do. ICE also provides real time engineering, pricing, material take off’s and instantaneous feed to manufacturing equipment in real time.
