I’m sure we all have been watching and listening to the reports about the loss of life and catastrophic devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
To those Rotarians who are asking the question “how can we help?” your District Board is recommending that you direct your personal donations to Rotary’s disaster relief partner “ShelterBox Canada”.
They are mobilizing a highly-trained ShelterBox Response Team to some of the most devastated areas to help them get a better understanding of how they can help those families who have lost everything and who need it the most. As official Project Partners in disaster relief, Rotary and ShelterBox work together to ensure that no family is left without shelter after disasters. We must put our trust in ShelterBox to deliver.
Donations can be made by mail or online at www.shelterboxcanada.org. Attached here is a donation form that can be used to collect donations from members who wish to help. ShelterBox also has fundraising pages available for all Rotary Clubs and Districts. If you need any assistance with setting up your page please contact Tess Widdifield, Rotary and Community Fundraising Manager, ShelterBox Canada at tesswiddifield@shelterboxcanada.org.
As this story unfolds and we get a better idea of what is required to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts the District may also consider contributing to a Global Grant.
