Message from President Madeleine
Today we celebrate being back at the Palliser Hotel, our home for more than one hundred years! The rooms have been renovated during the past 3 months and are looking beautiful. I hope to see many of you there in person April 11, as well as April 25 for the special James Wheeler Davidson annual luncheon.
At next week’s board meeting we will be welcoming the incoming board members so they are all ready for the start of their year come July 1. We will be reviewing the progress of our committees towards achievement of their goals for the year, and beginning work on next year’s budget. We’ll also be considering a few minor bylaw edits. Let me know if you have a particular interest in bylaws.
Progress is being made on the planning for Convention 2025 here in Calgary. Volunteers opportunities are already developed. Email Luanne at l.whitmarsh@shaw.ca (Stampede Club) for more information.
Let us hope that spring has finally sprung!

We would like to recognize three new members who each had the Red Dot removed from his/her name tag during the month of March. This means they have completed all the requirements of a new member and are now fully-fledged members of our Club.

Our Curling Team

For the first time in several years, the Downtown club entered a team in the Calgary Rotary Curling League. The team consists of Brian Guichon, Jill Conroy, Eric Bennett, Sean Baylis, Doug Webb, Lisa van Hemert, and spares Bill Hamilton and Kurt Kowalchuk.
Over the next few months you’ll see some changes appear on our club’s home page at www.rotaryclubofcalgary.org. The aim is to both inform our club members of upcoming activities but also raise awareness of who we are and what we do. Once you are in the system registered as a volunteer, you’ll be sent the link to SIGN UP to one or more shifts. Don’t wait too long because the shifts are going like hotcakes.
As a reader of the COG, is there anything you would like to see included in your newsletter? We want to make sure that the content is of interest to our Club members and we would welcome your input. Because not everyone is able to attend the in-person meetings, would a brief synopsis of those meetings be of interest? We could include any important announcements, a word about anyone who is specially honoured, perhaps some information about the guest speaker in case you want to investigate the topic further. This is only one suggestion – we really would like your ideas.
