For the first time in several years, the Downtown club entered a team in the Calgary Rotary Curling League. The team consists of Brian Guichon, Jill Conroy, Eric Bennett, Sean Baylis, Doug Webb, Lisa van Hemert, and spares Bill Hamilton and Kurt Kowalchuk.
For the first time in several years, the Downtown club entered a team in the Calgary Rotary Curling League. The team consists of Brian Guichon, Jill Conroy, Eric Bennett, Sean Baylis, Doug Webb, Lisa van Hemert, and spares Bill Hamilton and Kurt Kowalchuk.
It has been a great year - we got to know each other and members from many other clubs in the city. In February we attended the 5360/5370 District Bonspiel in Airdrie and took home the D Level trophy. Aside from the victory, we met Rotarians from all over northern Alberta and BC and learned why this has become such a beloved tradition for all involved. Next year we hope to enter two teams of six in the league. If you are interested, let us know. No experience required! We will be holding a curling clinic in the early fall to go over skills and rules - but really the league is all about having a good time with great people.
What will we do in the off season? We are looking into starting up a lawn bowling league. Let us know if you're interested! More to come....
