The Meeting May 31, 2016
By Thalia Kingsford
The Palliser "Clubhouse" was abuzz with excitement. The grand piano had been relocated to the centre of the floor among all of the tables. Michael Pierson played the Mickey Mouse Club Theme Song as the Head Table entered. Welcomed by President Rob, the meeting began with O Canada. Manon Mitchell and Michael were a stirring duet for the anthem. Ali Gursoy offered the Invocation with a reading from Rumi, perhaps the greatest mystical poet of all time.
Gord Walker took the podium to introduce the start of our big show. This was a musical program billed by Gord as just fun, games, music and good old friends. Some moments are priceless and Tuesday was a Rotary meeting full of those moments. Frank McKitrick was back and in great form. He has been a Rotarian for 38 years and we were so fortunate to be treated to many concerts at Knox United where he was the Organist until just before he moved to Vancouver.
There are a number of members of the Rotary Club of Calgary (RCC) on the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation (CRCF) Board. Each of the Calgary clubs that participate in the CRCF have a certain number of representatives on the Board who serve for specified terms. Our Club By-laws set out a ratification process that involves a vote of members present at a specified meeting. The RCC Board of Directors have recommended two individuals to join the CRCF Board and a vote will be held at our June 7th meeting to ratify their appointment. The motion to be considered and passed at this meeting is as follows:
"The Rotary Club of Calgary nominates Mr. Don Dart and Mr. Brent Alexander to the CRCF Board for terms that are governed by the CRCF By-laws."

Calling All Stampede Barbecue Event Volunteers
By Craig Henderson
We need hundreds of volunteers to cater two of the largest parties in the city, and you can register yourself, as well as your friends and family, to volunteer at the Stampede Roundup and/or the Oxford Stomp by following the registration links below.
As we are continuing our efforts build a database of reliable volunteers, we really need a valid email address and phone number for each volunteer you sign up.
